BREAKINGS: Manchester United Signed Long Term Transfer Target

Man United midfielder James Garner has signed a new contract before heading out on loan to Nottingham Forest, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer revealed at his media conference yesterday that the 20-year-old sensation was set for another temporary move to gain senior playing experience.

A United source has told Football Insider that Garner put pen to paper yesterday (20th August) on a new three-year contract that includes a further 12-month option.

The highly-rated youngster had rejected the opening offer from the Premier League giants to throw his future into some doubt.

But they reached agreement on a deal that runs until 2024 and potentially until 2025.

It will replace his current deal, signed when he was aged 18 back in 2019, and which was due to expire next year.

United’s plan this summer has been to extend Garner’s contract and send him out on a season-long loan to gain further first-team experience.

But United would not sanction a loan until he agrees a new contract.

He has attracted widespread interest from Championship clubs after loan spells at Watford and Forest last season.

But the Reds have won the race to take him on loan for another campaign.

He played 21 times for Watford last season before switching to the City Ground in January, where he made a further 20 appearances and scored four goals.

A central midfielder, he has been a regular among United’s first team for their pre-season fixtures, and has been named by Bruno Fernandes as one of the club’s two star young players.
