Rhali Dobson announces she’ll quit football to support her boyfriend
Australia’s international footballer Rhali Dobson has made it clear she’s retiring from football at the age of 28.
She made it clear when Melbourne City (her club) was to play Perth Glory on Thursday.
She went on to score a wonderful goal opener to help her teammates secure the win in which they did to end their season in style.
According to her, she has to retire now to support her boyfriend who’s undergoing radiotherapy and chemotherapy for brain cancer.
“Five days after his brain surgery he kicked my backside back down here to Melbourne, told me that I had to finish out the season, that I’ve got unfinished business and it was still normal as always,” Dobson said earlier this week.
“Then we got the news two days after I got back down here to Melbourne that the part that they took out – which they got all of, which is fantastic – had transitioned to a grade three brain tumour.
“This is bigger than the sport. He is my absolute world.”
After their final match ended, her boyfriend proposed to her and she said yes.
We wish her well in all she does.
This kind of love is rare.
