Solskjaer blames Fred after Man United draw with Southampton – See Why

Manchester United boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has accused his Manchester United players of ‘losing their heads’ against Southampton.

Solskjaer also singled out midfielder, Fred for criticism after his side played out a disappointing 1-1 draw with the Saints on Sunday.

United supporters were hoping for another night of glory after an impressive victory over Leeds United last weekend,.

But the Red Devils delivered a disjointed display away to Southampton and were behind after 30minutes following Fred’s own goal.

Mason Greenwood scored United’s equaliser in the 55th minute but Solskjaer expressed his displeasure with the result.

“I think they started with a couple of set-plays and when we weathered that storm I thought we played some very good football. We should’ve scored a few,’ Solskjaer said after the game.

“But when they scored we lost our heads a little bit. After half time I thought it was good again until we scored, then for another five minutes we played some decent football and then the last 15, 20 [minutes] we lost our momentum, lost our shape, got sloppy.

“Maybe it’s fitness issues, maybe it’s other things.”

“It might be a little bit lucky it deflected off Fred but he shouldn’t have dangled his leg, he should’ve blocked that shot. So we need better reactions when we don’t get decisions.

“I think it’s still early on in the season, fitness issues, we’re not 100 per cent fit.”
