Recall that in the month of December, 2020 the Federal government odered the closure of schools across the country, saying that schools should remain closed until 18th of January due to the second wave of coronavirus pandemic in the country.

After some weeks the federal government approved 18th of January as resumption date for schools across the country, giving some preventive measures to curb the further spread of Covid-19 disease while school activities resumes.

On Tuesday 19th of January, 2021 Daily Post Nigeria reported that the Federal government of Nigeria has kicked against reopening of schools, saying that they didn’t support school resumption.

According to Daily Post Nigeria, The federal government of Nigeria has announced that it was not in support of the resumption of schools on Monday, 18th of January 2021.

This announcement was released by the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu during the Briefing of the Presidential Task Force on Covid-19 on Monday 18th of January 2021.

The Minister disclosed that the Federal government did not agree with states on school resumption date, that the presidential task force on Covid-19 would monitor the situation on daily basis. He also added that school resumption date could be reviewed again.
