Xhaka Responded To. Jose Mourinho After Urging Him To Take Covid-19 Jab

After Jose Mourinho urged him to obtain the Covid-19 vaccine just days after the Arsenal midfielder tested positive for coronavirus, Granit Xhaka has responded.

After testing positive for Covid-19, Xhaka missed Switzerland’s 2-1 friendly win over Greece on Wednesday. He was sent off in his last appearance for Arsenal, a 5-0 Premier League defeat to Manchester City.

Despite being provided the coronavirus vaccine, Xhaka declined, according to the Swiss FA. According to research undertaken by The Telegraph, about a third of English Football League players have declined to be vaccinated.

Mourinho, who attempted to bring Xhaka to Italy earlier this summer, has advised the Arsenal midfielder to take care of himself and receive the Covid-19 vaccine.

‘Get the jab Granit and be safe,’ advised the former Tottenham, Manchester United, Chelsea, and Real Madrid manager.

Xhaka responded to Mourinho’s remark by saying, “Thank you, mister.”

Xhaka has been ruled out of the vital World Cup qualifiers against Group C rivals Italy and Northern Ireland after missing Switzerland’s victory over Greece.

‘Granit Xhaka was not vaccinated,’ stated Swiss football chief Adrian Arnold. He is a non-vaccinated player. We left it up to each player to decide; it’s a personal choice for each player, just like it is for anybody else in Switzerland.

‘We’ve recommended that everyone get vaccinated.’ But he made the decision for himself. He has the right not to be vaccinated as well.’

Arsenal’s most recent match, a 5-0 defeat at the hands of Man City at the Etihad, saw Xhaka sent off.

Xhaka said he was “brutally astonished” by the red card when asked about his ejection, telling Keystone: “About the red card: brutally surprising!”

‘When it comes to the Premier League, a lot of people talk about English toughness. I hit the ball perfectly and received a red.

‘The VAR did not examine the photographs. I’ve seen a lot of harsher tackles that weren’t even called a foul.’
